Job summary

Vancouver Public Library seeks a Branch Manager to oversee patron experience, staff supervision, and branch operations at Renfrew Branch. You will implement library priorities, mentor staff, and ensure services align with our policies and values.

Reporting to the Manager, Neighbourhood Services, you will lead programming, information services, and community partnerships while upholding the library’s commitment to equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library school.
• Completion of supervisory courses.
• Three years of supervisory experience as an Assistant Manager/Department Head or equivalent leadership experience including supervision.
• Experience in library services including programming, information services, community engagement and collection management.

Job Summary:

Job Requirements:

Education/Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited library school.
• Completion of supervisory courses.

Experience:

• Three years of supervisory experience as an Assistant Manager and/or Department Head, or an equivalent leadership experience that includes some element of supervision such as directing project staff. Considerable demonstrated leadership experience. Significant experience in the provision of library services including programming, information services, working with the communityand collection management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to lead, coach and develop a staff team; excellent team-building and leadership skills.
• Thorough knowledge of current trends and industry best practices in areas of responsibility.
• Thorough understanding of library services, collections, technologies and resources.
• Strong commitment to serving clients; open, pragmatic and responsive to clients and community.
• Innovative and flexible in a rapidly changing library environment with the ability to assist staff to participate in and be open to change.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to actively promote the service of the branch to the community and agencies and work with the community to identify and meet community needs and expectations.

Work Schedule:

• Monday - Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
• Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm (EDO Week 1, Off Week 3)
• Saturday: 8:30am - 5:00pm (Week 3 only)
