Job summary

Tigercat Industries seeks a Brake Press Operator to operate metalworking machinery and form steel into production parts for heavy equipment. You will read blueprints, set up presses, and ensure quality while complying with safety standards.

The role requires handling measuring tools, working with various machines, and collaborating with the production team to meet deadlines. Day shift is 6:00am–2:30pm, Monday–Friday, in Paris, Ontario.

Qualifications

• Adapt to a changing work environment and handle frequent changes.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and engineering drawings.
• Ability to read tape measures, protractors and other measuring tools.
• Mathematical, mechanical and technical skills are assets.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
• Physical requirement: stand long periods, lift up to 50 lb, bend.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprint specifications to set up brake presses of various sizes and material thicknesses to make precision bends.
• Set up the brake press to produce quality parts and maintain press daily to keep it clean and in good working condition.
• Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed PPE to prevent injuries.
• Use measuring instruments (Verner, protractor, tape, micrometer) to ensure parts meet required dimensions.
• Safely operate jib cranes to load/unload material from brake presses.
• Lay out, set up and operate metalworking machines to cut, bend, roll, drill and shape metal stock into parts or products.
• Work with production team to meet goals and timelines.

Job description

As the Brake Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating metalworking machines to shape and form steel into parts used in the manufacture of heavy equipment. To excel in this role, a commitment to ensuring high-quality products are produced efficiently and safely is required.

Location: 141 Consolidated Drive, Paris, On.

Dedicated Day Shift: Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday

Job Duties

• Read and interpret blueprint specifications to set-up brake presses of various sizes and thicknesses of materials to make precision bends
• Set up the brake press to produce quality parts and maintain press daily to keep it clean and in good working condition
• Follow safety protocols and wear prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
• Use various measuring instruments (e.g., Vernier, protractor, measuring tape, and micrometer) to ensure parts of defect-free, correctly shaped, and meet required dimensions and specifications
• Safely operate jib cranes to load and unload material from brake presses
• Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines such as shears, power presses, saws, plate rolls, drills, brakes, slitters, punch presses, computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, and other hand tools to cut, bend, roll, ream, punch and drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products
• Work collaboratively with other production team members to meet production goals and timelines

• Ability to read and understand tape measure / protractor and other measuring tools
• Mathematical, mechanical, and technical skillsare considered an asset

• Physical requirements include standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending

Qualifications

• Experience operating metalworking machines; previous brake press experience preferred
