Job summary

Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) seeks a licensed Mechanical Engineer to assess submissions for registration or variance of pressure-retaining components and systems in accordance with Ontario regulations and adapted codes. You will review qualifications, analyze drawings, perform stress calculations, and coordinate with clients and internal committees.

Qualifications

  • PEO-licensed Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years in pressure equipment.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Regulations, CSA, ASME, and ANSI codes.
  • Experience with design submittals, calculations, and QC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate design submissions against Ontario Regulations and codes.
  • Review applications and verify manufacturer qualifications (QC program).
  • Analyze technical drawings and calculations, including stress analyses.
  • Follow up with clients to obtain needed information or resolve issues.
  • Present submissions to internal committees (e.g., variances).
  • Issue CRN letters to extend approvals when appropriate.
  • Provide regulatory guidance on codes and standards to clients.
