Job summary

Slegg Building Materials - Cumberland in Cumberland, BC is seeking a Boom Truck Operator to transport materials to job sites and place them as requested, Monday to Friday 6:30am–3pm with a wage range of CAD 30.50–39.50 per hour (Tier 1–3).

Shifts are Monday to Friday 6:30am–3pm; a signing bonus totals CAD 2,000 paid at 90 and 180 days. Responsibilities include inspections, loading heavy drywall, safe crane operations, and coordinating with dispatch and customers.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 license with air brakes endorsement.
• Crane ticket Level A with at least 1 year of experience.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and measurement.
• Basic hand tools and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip truck inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Manually load, unload, and carry heavy drywall sheets.
• Transport materials to job sites safely and professionally.
• Keep truck interior and exterior clean and organized.
• Verify load security and accuracy before delivery.
• Deliver materials while prioritizing safety, service and efficiency.
• Operate boom/mobile crane safely during loading/unloading.
• Communicate with customers and trades on site and with dispatch.
• Assist warehouse staff and prepare trucks for reloads.
• Follow all regulations and company policies.

Position Summary

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Boom Truck Operator. The Boom Truck Operator transports products to job sites and places these materials in requested work locations. The shifts are Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3pm and the wage range is $30.50 - $39.50 per hour (Tier 1; $30.50 - $33.50, Tier 2; $33.50 - $36.50, Tier 3; $36.50 - $39.50).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip truck inspections and notify when maintenance is needed.
• Manually load, unload, and carry heavy drywall sheets.
• Transport loads in a professional manner, following the road rules and representing the company to the highest standards.
• Ensure cleanliness of truck interior and exterior.
• Verify load security and accuracy.
• Deliver materials to the satisfaction of customers and maintain an emphasis on safety, service, and efficiency.
• Safe operation of the boom/ mobile crane while loading and unloading.
• Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites.
• Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve issues as they arise.
• Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
• Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
