Job summary

A reputable wealth management firm based in Toronto is looking for a Bookkeeper to assist in managing accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Key responsibilities include recording transactions in Sage, handling payroll, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Candidates must be detail-oriented and proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. This is an on-site position with competitive benefits.

Job description

BOOKKEEPER – Successful Investor Wealth Management Inc.

We are an established wealth management firm with 20+ years’ experience in independent portfolio management with assets under management of $1 billion and growing.

Successful Investor Wealth Management is actively seeking a Bookkeeper with strong accounting and analytical skills who will assist our General Accountant by ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our accounting area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide support for accounting and bookkeeping functions for Successful Investor Wealth Management and its affiliated companies, including the following:

  • Record daily financial transactions in Sage (receipts, invoices/payments, bank and credit card transactions etc.).
  • Manage full cycle accounts payable, correspondence with vendors, processing payment using EFTs, and maintaining records of invoices and supporting documents.
  • Process company payrolls in Sage (salaries paid out via direct deposit). Calculate payroll deductions and submit payments to government. Issue employee ROEs as required.
  • Record revenue based on information received from various departments.
  • Administer internal PO Process for all company expenditures.
  • Monitor cash positions in bank accounts and assist in cash management.
  • Handle petty cash.
  • Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations periodically for multiple accounts.
  • Periodically prepare GST/HST payable schedules and timely payments to Government.
  • Processing inter-company reconciliations, adjustments, journal entries, and balancing the General Ledger (month, quarter, year-end).
  • Reconciliations of accounts at period end to identify any errors or duplications in records.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and proper filing system for all financial transactions.
  • Additional tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned by Manager.
  • Assist with Pooled Fund Accounting functions including the preparation of various schedules, statements, filings, and tax returns.
  • Other ad-hoc Fund Accounting assistance as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping.
  • Experience using Sage or QuickBooks (Sage preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advance skills in Excel.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in Pooled Fund Accounting is an asset.
  • Excellent ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet hard deadlines.
  • Works well independently, takes initiative and is proactive.
  • Superb attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Other Information

  • Working hours are generally 9:00am – 5:00pm but may occasionally run beyond, especially during peak periods.

On-site role located near Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. in North York, Toronto. We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable team member who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment to achieve our goals.
