Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage and maintain accurate financial records for our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in supporting the company’s financial health and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Record daily financial transactions using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).

Maintain accurate general ledger and journal entries.

Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.

Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.

Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Manage payroll and related government remittances (CPP, EI, taxes, WSIB, etc.).

Track and categorize business expenses.

Assist in the preparation of year-end financials for external accountants.

Monitor budgets and report on variances.

Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal financial regulations.

Maintain and organize digital and paper financial records.

Respond to inquiries related to financial transactions or account discrepancies.

Qualifications :

College diploma or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 2–3 years of bookkeeping experience (experience in [industry] is an asset).

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Discretion with confidential financial information.

Preferred Skills :

Experience with payroll systems and government remittances.

Knowledge of HST / GST / PST filing requirements.

Familiarity with CRA regulations and year-end processes.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
