Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Booking Clerk to support the Medical Imaging Clerical Support team. The role involves scheduling patient radiology appointments, coordinating with doctors and staff, and entering booking information into radiology and hospital systems.

Requirements include Grade 12 and two years of related experience, strong keyboarding (about 40 wpm), knowledge of medical terminology, and effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

The salary range for this position is CAD $28.74/Hr. - CAD $28.74/Hr.

Come work as a Booking Clerk with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at the Medical Imaging Clerical Support team!

Practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as well as within a client and family centred care model and the vision and values of the department across the Lower Mainland Integration (LMI) health authorities (Fraser Health Authority, Providence Health Care, Provincial Health Services Authority, and Vancouver Coastal Health). Performs scheduling and booking functions for a variety of patient appointments for designated areas within Radiology. Duties include arranging times with patients, doctor's offices, nursing units, physicians, technical staff and surgical/medical daycare, making follow up appointments, locating applicable images/films prior to appointments, rearranging schedules to meet changing demands/requests, preparing and confirming patient information, entering booking, patient and image/film information into radiology and hospital computerized and/or manual booking and patient information systems, filing requisitions for all bookings, and acting as receptionist to support the delivery of patient care and to ensure client/family needs are met above all other concerns.

Education & Experience
  • Grade 12, two (2) year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
