The Coalition for Music Education is committed to raising awareness of the vital role music education plays in our schools and the profound benefits music engagement brings to individuals and communities. Quality music education is a cornerstone of a well-rounded education, nurturing creativity, enhancing academic performance, building emotional resilience, and fostering social connection.
The Coalition is a registered charitable organization and has been a leader in music education advocacy, research, and programming for more than 30 years. We have celebrated the benefits of learning, making, and engaging with music through programs such as Music Monday, Ancestors Voices, The Tune-Up Student Songwriting Contest, and MusicNext (formerly Youth4Music). In 2024, more than 275,000 students participated in our programs.
As a national organization, we seek diverse representation and encourage applications from residents of all provinces and territories. Qualified applicants from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon & NWT, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick will be given priority.

Directors are required to serve a two-year term beginning in June 2025. The Board of Directors meets via Zoom up to 8 times per year. All Directors are asked to participate on one committee of the board.
