Job summary

Louis Riel School Division is seeking a 0.5 FTE Bilingual Library Assistant (Term) at Ecole Mazina-Giizhik in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The role runs from as soon as arranged to June 30, 2027, or until the incumbent returns. Compensation ranges from $28.79 to $31.28 per hour for 3.5 hours per day over 10 months.

The successful candidate will assist the teacher librarian and administration, manage library resources, and support students and staff with bilingual services and basic IT troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• Completion of post-secondary training in a Library Program. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Strong knowledge of how learning resources (books, periodicals, kits, audio-visual, subscription databases, equipment, realia) are organized in a school library and circulated in print and electronic formats.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge and experience with computer technology (Internet research, resource management systems, digital library).
• Assist students and staff in the technical troubleshooting of minor hardware and instructional software problems.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
• Ability to interact effectively with students and staff, combined with an ability to explain information regarding library services to all patrons using the school library learning commons.
• Excellent verbal and written skills in both official languages (English and French) are required.
