Job summary

Sovereign Insurance, a subsidiary of The Co-operators, is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support underwriters and perform essential administrative tasks. This role is in the Operations department and operates in a hybrid model (2 days in office).

Requirements include 2–3 years in insurance, a High School Diploma, CIP courses are a plus, and bilingual English/French proficiency is essential for servicing and communication with clients and teams. Background check applies.

Qualifications

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required for main duties.
• High School Diploma is required. CIP courses are an asset.
• 2–3 years of insurance industry experience preferred, ideally commercial insurance.

Responsibilities

• Enter new business, endorsements and renewals into the system and issue policies.
• Train and mentor junior staff and assist team lead/manager with workflow and teamwork to meet goals.
• Arrange risk inspections for underwriters as requested.
• Prepare and maintain basic file setup documents for underwriters' approval.
• Obtain additional information from brokers as needed by the underwriter.
