Job summary

Sovereign Insurance is seeking an energetic Underwriting Assistant to join the UA team. In a hybrid role (2 days in office), you will support underwriters with entry of new business and renewals, while collaborating with brokers and internal teams.

We require 2–3 years in insurance, a high school diploma, and proficiency in English and French. CIP courses are an asset. Eligible candidates will receive competitive salary, benefits, and pension.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years insurance industry experience, preferably commercial insurance.
• High School Diploma required.
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses an asset.
• Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role.

Responsibilities

• Enter new business, endorsements and renewals into the system and issue policies.
• Train and mentor less experienced staff, and assist team lead or manager with workflow to meet goals.
• Order risk inspections for underwriters, as requested.
• Prepare and maintain basic file setup documents subject to underwriter’s approval.
• Obtain additional information from Brokers as required by the Underwriter.
