Job summary

Securitas Canada is seeking a Security Guard in Ottawa, Ontario. You will perform on-site guarding duties per post orders, oversee shifts, ensure rounds and reporting, and maintain client communications to guarantee security requirements are met.

The role requires bilingual English/French capability, a valid Ontario Security Guard License, and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Prior supervisory experience is a plus, with a focus on proactive, reliable security service.

Qualifications

• Bilingual (English and French) is required.
• Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance; Canadian citizenship and 10 years residency required.
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and ability to motivate others.
• Ability to manage schedule assignments and respond to client needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform Security Guard duties per post orders and company policy.
• Provide lead direction at client site, ensure rounds and reports are completed; notify authorities in emergencies.
• Counsel and discipline personnel as needed; meet with employees and document actions.
• Assist in training Security Guards and review post orders.
• Assist in payroll submissions and personnel information to the company.
• Ensure adequate security coverage of all posts with management guidance.
• Prepare and submit reports as required.
• Meet with client representatives to ensure security requirements are met and provide quality service.

Responsibilities

• Performs the duties of a Security Guard in accord with post orders and company policy.
• Provides lead direction at assigned client site(s) on assigned shift(s); acts to ensure that post orders are followed, that established rounds are completed, and that adequate reports are filed; notifies proper authorities and client in emergency situations.
• May counsel and discipline personnel as appropriate; seeks advice from company management or designated representatives as appropriate; meets personally with employees and documents counseling and disciplinary actions.
• Assists in the training of Security Guards and review of post orders.
• Assists in the submission of payroll and personnel information to the company as designated.
• In conjunction with company management or designated company representatives acts to ensure adequate security coverage of all posts.
• Prepares, files and submits various reports as required.
• Meets with client representatives as scheduled or as needed to provide assurance that all security requirements are being met and to provide quality customer service.

Qualifications

• Must be Bilingual (English and French).
• Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (Canadian citizenship and a min of 10 years residency in Canada are required).
• Ability to work day shifts, can be 8-12 hours in duration.
• Have a valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Have a min of 1 year experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
• Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.
• Ability to track and maintain schedule assignments.
• Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
• $24.50 per hour
