We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations within the BIG HUG Hospitality group. This role is responsible for leading and supporting the team, delivering exceptional guest experiences, managing staffing and scheduling, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining high levels of service, quality, and efficiency across all areas of the business. This posting is for a currently existing vacancy.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Full-time, Permanent, Restaurant Manager to bring an elevated experience to our guests

A multifaceted role, the Restaurant Manager works to oversee the operations of the restaurant. Focusing on staff training, generation of top-line revenue, and management of labour and cost of goods, the Restaurant Manager will be involved in leading all aspects of the restaurant to success while ensuring a best-in-class guest experience.

What You'll Do

  • Champions the brand’s vision and values and contributes to maintaining a strong culture and healthy working environment.
  • Uphold our standards at all times and treat everyone with courtesy and respect.
  • Labour Management: appropriate staffing levels to achieve the highest service standards
  • POS Programming: POS must be updated with the current menu, ensure proper modifiers are listed for ease of communication with the kitchen.
  • PMIX Analysis: identify consistently low-selling items and think of ways to boost sales (promos, pre-shift knowledge, staff tasting).
  • Restaurant Tech (clover/SW/etc.): Execute rollouts and overall support tech initiatives, suggesting improvements and lessons learned.
  • Elevate service and give final approval for FOH staff to graduate training.
  • Prepare and implement standard operating procedures, coordinate restaurant operations during each shift, and determine and implement operating improvements.
  • Manage all aspects of staff performance in accordance with established service standards, and ensure staff knows and adheres to established steps of service and service standards.
  • Control Profit & Loss (i.e., plan attainment) by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing labor, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Monitor adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards within the location, ensure compliance with restaurant security procedures, inclusive of alcohol regulations, ensure a safe working environment by facilitating safe work behaviours of the team and guests, maintain safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; comply with health and legal regulations.
  • Maintain restaurant cleanliness and uphold aesthetic standards.
  • Organize and create venue leadership schedules for approval. Monitor staff schedules and ensure that budgeted labour costs are met.
  • Maintain accountability for all internal controls around invoices, cash, and other payment handling and procedures.
  • Interact with guests to ensure all inquiries, guest recovery, and complaints are handled promptly, providing a best-in-class guest experience.
  • Create and maintain a PX list.
  • Execute marketing and promotional activities, in coordination with our Marketing Team.
  • Appropriately adapt to seasonal changes and create and manage relevant initiatives.
  • Arrange for maintenance and repairs of equipment and services.
  • Ensure repairs, maintenance, and preventative maintenance plans for the space.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire team members; conduct performance appraisals, take disciplinary action, motivate and train.
  • Assesses staffing requirements continuously to identify current needs.
  • Review weekly reservations and events.
  • Host and lead weekly manager meetings.

What You’ll Need

  • Prior management experience in the restaurant industry and experience in upscale environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work extended hours, on foot.
  • Knowledge of various operational systems. Bonus if you are familiar with any of the following: Silverware, Push, AnyDay Card (XTM), TripleSeat.
