Job summary

TekStaff IT Solutions is seeking a BI/Data Analyst for a 12-month contract in Toronto with a hybrid on-site requirement (2-3 days per week). The role emphasizes Power BI dashboards, data transformation, Python scripting, and strong SQL skills to deliver scalable analytics solutions.

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years in data analytics, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to meet reporting needs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, BI, reporting.
• Advanced Power BI capabilities: data modeling, DAX, Power Query, dashboards.
• Strong SQL experience with large datasets.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow agile practices and participate in stand-ups.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for ops, management, and execs.
• Analyze and transform data from multiple sources into reusable datasets.
• Write complex SQL queries and optimize data models.
• Automate data processing and reporting workflows with Python.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate analytics needs into solutions.

TekStaff's Client has a current vacancy for \"BI/ Data analyst\"

This is a 12 months contract located in Toronto, Ont /Hybrid 2-3 days a week in office

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

• Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities – follow agile practices, We usually start the day off with a stand-up where we're just socializing what we achieved yesterday and what we're trying to achieve today. And then if we need any support in that, and then we'll move to an individual contributor.
• How much time is being spent in meetings – 5-7 hours weekly
• Who are they interacting with (internal/external) – internal
• Will the contractor have access to any customer data? NO!!!!

MUST-HAVE Hard Skills:

• 1.) Power BI / Tableau – 3 years
• 2.) Data transformation – 3 years
• 3.) Python/ MS query -3 years
• 4.) Strong communication

NICE-TO-HAVE

• 1.) Experience with stallholder interaction -3 years
• 2.) Ability to create executive level presentations
• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for operational, management, and executive audiences.
• Analyze, profile, and transform data from multiple sources to create scalable and reusable reporting datasets.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
• Utilize Python to automate data processing, validation, reconciliation, and reporting workflows.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather, document, and translate reporting and analytics requirements into technical solutions.
• Perform data quality assessments and investigate data anomalies to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytics products.
• Support the modernization and consolidation of manual reporting processes through automation and self-service analytics capabilities.
• Contribute to Agile delivery practices including backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Prepare executive-ready presentations and communicate analytical findings, trends, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
• Support ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and issue resolution for existing analytics products and dashboards.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, product owners, and business partners to deliver end-to-end analytics solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or related roles.
• Advanced experience with Power BI, including:
• Data modeling
• DAX measures and calculations
• Power Query
• Dashboard and report development
• Performance optimization
• Strong SQL experience with the ability to write complex queries and work with large datasets.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and reporting.
• Experience working with relational databases and enterprise data environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience within Financial Risk Management, Credit Risk, Enterprise Risk, Regulatory Reporting, or Banking domains.
• Familiarity with risk metrics, risk reporting, credit portfolio analytics, or governance reporting.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Synapse, Databricks and Azure Storage Services
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience supporting reporting modernization, automation, or analytics transformation initiatives.
• Familiarity with Excel Power Query, Power Pivot, and advanced Excel functions.
• Experience creating executive-level reporting packages and presentations.
