Job Details

The Benefits Verification Specialist will contact insurance companies to verify patient-specific benefits for client programs. The specialist will ask appropriate questions regarding patient's benefits and complete data entry and/or appropriate forms to document patient's benefits coverage.

Work/Shift Hours: 9:00am – 6:00pm Monday-Friday

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review all patient insurance information needed to complete the benefit verification process.
  • Triages cases with missing information to appropriate program associate.
  • Verify patient-specific benefits and document specifics for various payer plans, including patient coverage, cost share, and access/provider options.
  • Identify restrictions and details on how to expedite patient access.
  • Document and initiate prior authorization processes, claims appeals, etc.
  • Perform quality review of work as part of finalizing the product.
  • Report reimbursement trends/delays to management.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Apply company policies and procedures to resolve issues.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, medical billing and coding, benefits verification, healthcare, or related fields.
  • Equivalent education and experience considered.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Strong benefits verification experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows, data entry, and typing fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • Independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Familiarity with insurance benefits verification preferred.
  • Adaptability to changing work situations.

Salary Range*

$32,300 - 47,740

*This range reflects a national average; actual salaries may vary by location, with adjustments for states like Colorado, California, Washington, New York, Hawaii, Vermont, Minnesota, Massachusetts, and Illinois.
