Job summary

Monarch House is seeking a Behaviour Interventionist to implement programs designed by senior clinical staff and support skill acquisition for children and youth in a fast-paced clinic setting. You will work within an interdisciplinary team including speech pathologists, BCBA, occupational and physical therapists to deliver engaging, positive client experiences.

The role is part-time with hours listed in the schedule and pays $21–23 CAD per hour.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities.
• Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or linguistics, occupational therapy or kinesiology.
• Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 6 months.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

• Contributes to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting
• Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise
• Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions
• Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
• Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
• Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety

Job description

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team (of speech pathologists, by a BCBA, Occupational therapists and physical therapists) to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.

Please note that we do not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup
Employment setup: Part-time. Hourly.
Salary: $21-23/hr
Work setting: clinic-based
Weekly Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday, 9AM - 6:30PM
Tuesday and Thursday, 12noon - 6:30PM
Friday, 10AM - 6:30PM
Saturday, 8AM - 4PM

Here is what you will need to be successful

• 1-2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working with the pediatric populationis a plus
• Enrollment in or degree from a post-secondary program of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or another related field is an asset
• Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops an asset
• Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities
