Job description

Behaviour Interventionist (BI) Position Overview

As a Behaviour Interventionist (BI) at Monarch House, your primary responsibility is implementing programs designed and supervised by a senior clinical team to clients receiving services from Monarch House. You will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviours while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast‑paced and frequently changing environment.

Work setup: Community‑based in the NE and Airdrie area
Salary: starting at $23.5 - 25 per hour

Note: We do not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Implement programs based on best practices.
  • Use systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing behaviour.
  • Contribute to the development of programs established by the clinical team to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1 and/or small group setting.
  • Understand the functions of behaviour and respond appropriately and safely when situations arise.
  • Adhere to all clinical training, procedures, and protocols.
  • Adapt to changing conditions and provide creative solutions.
  • Create a positive and engaging environment for the client.
  • Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating.
  • Maintain the well‑being and safety of clients.
Essential Qualifications
  • 1‑2 years experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Pursuing or completed education in Psychology, Speech or Linguistics, Occupational Therapy or Kinesiology.
  • Demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within last 6 months.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license (Class 5) and reliable vehicle for daily use.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in client homes.
  • Enrollment in or degree from a post‑secondary program in Psychology, Educational Psychology, Special Education or a related field.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder specific coursework, training or workshops.
  • Experience working with clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
