Job summary

Upper Canada Child Care is seeking an Assistant Educator for a casual supply position in Innisfil at St. Andre Bessette CS. The role supports developmentally appropriate, play-based programming in-centre with a focus on early childhood education.

Applicants must have a Vulnerable Sector Check, CPR-C and First Aid and be able to work a split shift in a before/after school program. Competitive compensation with wage enhancement grants and shift premium are offered.

Qualifications

• A recent Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Health assessment and immunization record as required by legislation.
• CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification (training provided on selection if required).
• Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and ability to apply this knowledge.
• Experience with inquiry/play-based program design and implementation, and with pedagogical documentation is an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and establish relationships with families, coworkers and professionals.
• Stamina to supervise children in various settings including outdoor spaces.
• Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce and Storypark.
• Moderate physical effort required; kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending and carrying.

Responsibilities

• Applies current legislative expectations to support a program aligned with Ministry of Education requirements and Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
• Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Engages with children to provide a positive learning experience, including meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
• Fosters ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
• Completes program charts, daily logs, reports and other administrative tasks.
• Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation to guide program development.
• Collaborates and communicates with team members, school personnel and outside agencies to support all children.
• Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
• Identifies children needing additional support and guides parents in accessing resources and implementing individual support plans.

We are currently recruiting an Assistant Educatorto join our Team in Innisfil at the following location: St. Andre Bessette CS.

This position is to fill an existing vancancy.

Pay Range:

Assistant Educator $20.60 - $23.54/hour(includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr) and Split Shift Premium ($2.00/hr).

*Candidates must be available to work a split shift in a before and after school program.

Position Type & Required Availability:

• Casual Supply status (variable hours): Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 5 assigned shifts every month.

Position Summary:

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met in compliance with all Ministry and organizational guidelines. To ensure the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, play based program by applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Applies current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
• Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
• Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
• Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
• Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
• Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
• Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
• Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
• Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
• Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
