Job summary

Upper Canada Child Care in North York, ON is seeking an Assistant Educator for full-time and casual supply roles in our before- and after-school programs. The position requires a split-shift availability (morning and afternoon) or a full 8-hour day Monday-Friday, with opportunities in a supportive, non-profit environment.

You will contribute to developmentally appropriate activities, support young learners, and engage with families.

Qualifications

• Certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid is required or provided after selection.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child development and play-based learning approaches.
• Ability to work in split-shift schedule (morning and afternoon).
• Strong communication skills with families and team members.
• Ability to use computer systems including Storypark and Dayforce.

Responsibilities

• Supports a developmentally appropriate, play-based program aligned with Ministry guidelines.
• Engages with children and supports meals, toileting, dressing as needed.
• Communicates with parents about the program and children’s progress.
• Completes daily logs and program documentation as required.
• Utilizes Storypark for pedagogical documentation to guide program development.
• Collaborates with staff and external partners to support children's needs.
• Mentors students and volunteers as required.
• Identifies children who need extra support and assists families in accessing resources.
