Job summary

Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton is seeking a Before and After Educator for the Lawfield Centre in Hamilton. The role supports children and families with developmentally appropriate programs, creating meaningful play experiences and healthy snacks while ensuring safety.

You will foster transitions to programs, engage children in planned activities, and collaborate with colleagues in a welcoming, organized environment committed to child-centered care.

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma and good standing with College of ECEs OR equivalent to obtain Director’s Approval for working alone with children
• Experience in childcare settings and ability to interact with children needing behavioural guidance
• Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? and experience in planning for JK/SK and school‑aged children

Responsibilities

• Greet children and families with warmth and professionalism
• Support children as they transition to the program and encourage self‑regulation and social engagement
• Engage children with meaningful activities using a programming cart
• Provide healthy morning snacks and ensure safe handwashing
• Assist with daily routines and outdoor play when appropriate
• Plan activities aligned with How Does Learning Happen? and monitor safety and behavior
