Job summary

A luxury hotel in Vancouver is seeking an experienced Bartender to join its team. Job description

We are seeking an experienced Bartender to join the team at Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Location: Vancouver, Canada

THE IMPACT OF THIS ROLE

Responsible for the professional preparation of all beverages for guests in the 1927 Lounge and in-room dining. This includes taking and serving orders, managing cash and ensuring compliance with hotel standards while maintaining a high level of guest service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve drinks according to standard recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and set‑up of the bar during shift.
  • Manage inventory, replenish kegs, and submit consumption reports.
  • Follow breakage, spillage, and inter‑bar transfer procedures.
  • Adhere to hotel policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Use equipment correctly and report maintenance issues.
  • Anticipate and meet guests’ needs and resolve complaints.
  • Maintain personal appearance and comply with grooming guidelines.
  • Keep the work area clean, sanitized and organized.
  • Provide information on hotel services, attractions and local activities.
  • Accurately record and input orders using the POS system.
  • Serve wine, champagne and coffee with proper presentation.
  • Process payments, tips, and complete closing duties.
  • Report to supervisor before leaving the floor.
  • Perform any other reasonably required job‑related duties.
OPENING & CLOSING RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check stock levels and requisition supplies.
  • Set up and maintain proper mise‑en‑place.
  • Ensure sufficient glassware for service.
  • Inspect and clean assigned station and service areas.
  • Collect and store reusable goods properly.
  • Restock items for the next service.
  • Collect and report tips at shift end.
ORDER TREATMENT & GUEST INTERACTION
  • Take food and beverage orders and perform suggestive selling.
  • Record orders and ensure accurate transmission to the culinary department.
  • Open and serve wine and champagne with proper technique.
  • Make and serve all varieties of coffee.
  • Present checks and process payments in compliance with cash handling policies.
  • Extend appreciation for guests’ patronage and invite return visits.
  • Reset bar top and tables promptly after guests depart.
  • Collect tips and report them at the end of the shift.
CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years bartending experience in an upscale restaurant or cocktail lounge; hotel experience is an asset.
  • Education: High school diploma (hospitality or mixology diploma/degree preferred).
  • General Skills: Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, problem solving, teamwork, and confidentiality; flexible shift schedule.
  • Technical Skills: Certified from an accredited bartending/mixology school; knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, food and beverage menus; POS system experience in MICROS.
  • Language: English fluently spoken, read, and written; additional language is an asset.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform various movements while communicating with guests and colleagues.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Serving It Right and FoodSafe certifications; other hospitality school certificates are an asset.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
