Job summary

Hard Rock Ottawa Hotel & Casino is hiring a Bar Porter to support bar operations in a fast-paced casino setting. You will replenish beverages, glassware and bar supplies, help bartenders, and ensure cleanliness and guest-ready service while following health and safety regulations.

This part-time permanent role requires at least one year of bar porter or bar back experience, knowledge of beverages and garnishes, and AGCO and Smart Serve licenses.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a bar porter or bar back.
• Knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
• Licensing requirements: AGCO License and Smart Serve Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and acknowledge them by name when possible.
• Clean bar area and equipment in accordance with policy.
• Ensure bar is set up and stocked and ready for service.
• Maintain soda gun products, garnishes, and mixes to standard.
• Stock bar with products and supplies throughout the shift.
• Prepare all mixes and garnishes.
• Thank guests and bid farewell.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift.
• Notify management of maintenance or repair issues.
• Complete any reasonable requests from management.
• Demonstrate product knowledge.
• Answer questions accurately and politely.
• Direct guests to restrooms and areas.
• Create memorable guest experiences.
• Entertain guests with amplified service.

The Bar Porter plays a key support role in ensuring the efficient operation of casino bar outlets by maintaining cleanliness, stocking supplies, and assisting bartenders in delivering exceptional guest service. This position is responsible for replenishing beverages, glassware, ice, and bar supplies; maintaining sanitary standards; and ensuring bar areas remain organized, fully stocked, and guest-ready at all times. The Bar Porter works in a fast-paced environment and collaborates closely with bartenders, servers, and other team members to support seamless service while adhering to all health, safety, and responsible service regulations. A commitment to teamwork, attention to detail, and delivering an outstanding guest experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest’s name when possible
• Cleans bar area, including bar tops, sinks, glasses, refrigerators, coolers and other bar appliances in accordance with Hard Rock policies.
• Ensures bar is set properly.
• Ensures all soda gun products, fruit garnishes, and mixes meets service standards.
• Stocks assigned bar with product and supplies throughout the shift.
• Prepares all mixes and garnishes.
• Thank guests with genuine appreciation and provide a fond farewell.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift.
• Notify management of maintenance repair issues relating to the bar and service area.
• Complete any additional reasonable requests by management.
• Demonstrates impeccable product knowledge.
• Answer questions - accurately and politely.
• Direct guests to areas & restrooms.
• Create memorable experiences.
• Entertain guests with AMPLIFIED SERVICE.

Experience, Education, Qualifications

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a bar porter and/or bar back in a casino, high-volume nightclub or high-volume restaurant preferred.
• Must have knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk distances.
• The employee must frequently lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

• Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
