Job summary

Heritage Park Historical Village in Calgary, AB is seeking a seasonal Banquet Server/Bartender to provide food and beverage service at banquet functions. You will set tables, serve drinks, and ensure guest satisfaction in a beautiful park setting.

The role requires an Alberta ProServe license, excellent communication, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and courtesy at all times.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to meet legal requirements for alcohol service.
  • Alberta ProServe license is required.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-facing setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment and focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities to manage both serving and bartending duties simultaneously.
  • Excellent memory and attention to detail for remembering drink orders and preferences.
  • Familiarity with AGLC regulations and commitment to responsible alcohol service.
  • Strong organizational skills to efficiently manage bar inventory and supplies.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with guests and coordinating with other staff.
  • Ability to adapt to various guest preferences and customize drinks accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
  • Set up stationary and portable bars, transporting inventory to required locations
  • Prepare and serve drinks to customers in a professional, friendly, and engaging fashion
  • Organize alcohol inventory and administer the beverage bar according to AGLC laws and Heritage Park's operating policies and procedures
  • Assist with setups and organization of venues as required
  • Provide an exceptional visitor experience through friendly and courteous interactions with guests, staff, and volunteers, using polite greetings and actively acknowledging guests
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors with a customer-focused approach, providing courteous and friendly answers to inquiries and valuable information to enhance the overall visitor experience
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Overview

The Banquet Server/Bartender is responsible for serving all food and beverage items during assigned banquet functions/events. This role involves setting and clearing tables, providing professional and friendly service to guests, following safety and sanitation policies, and ensuring a positive visitor experience.

Responsibilities

  • All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify an applicant; any information disclosed will be assessed confidentially on a case-by-case basis in accordance with Alberta human rights.
Special Clothing and Equipment
  • Appropriate costuming and safety equipment will be provided by Heritage Park if applicable; and
  • Footwear, as designated by the Heritage Park Costume Department, will be provided by the employee.
  • Must be able to serve and clear with the use of large oval trays
Special Working Conditions
  • The position will be exposed to weather extremes and will work both indoors and outdoors; and
  • This position is physically demanding, and the incumbent must have the ability to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time and walk throughout the Park for extended periods
Hours of Work
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; weekend availability is preferred
