Job summary

Rosewood Hotel Georgia in Vancouver is seeking an experienced dishwashing steward to support the kitchen and banquet operations. You will clean, prepare and maintain wares, assist with plating for banquets and ensure high standards of cleanliness across kitchen and service areas.

Role requires physical exertion, attention to detail and the ability to work with a team in a luxury hotel environment. WHMIS and Foodsafe familiarity are preferred, with English language proficiency a must.

Qualifications

• Experience: Some previous experience in a similar position required. Related experience in a luxury or ultra luxury environment.
• Education: High school diploma.
• General Skills: Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.
• Technical Skills: Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal; ability to provide legible communication and directions; basic arithmetic skills; ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; ability to prioritize, organize and follow up; able to follow directions thoroughly; ability to work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team. Knowledge of the MSDS sheets and WHIMIS.
• Language: Required to speak, read and write English. Additional language is an asset.
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 75 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
• Licenses & Certifications:WHIMIS and Foodsafe preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of departmental policies and standards.
• Ensure standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment use and maintenance.
• Anticipate guests’ needs and respond promptly.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Be familiar with hotel services and local attractions to answer guest questions.
• Resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Use cleaning chemicals per regulations and set up work stations.
• Run dishwashing equipment with proper chemicals and temperatures.
• Organize and break down areas for banquets and service.
• Assist in plating up banquet meals and coordinating with servers.
• Handle wares carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
• Transport wares and remove garbage per recycling rules.
• All other duties as required.
