Job summary

Pete's Frootique & Fine Foods in Bedford/ Halifax is seeking a Bakery & Decadence Clerk to support the Bakery Department Manager in maintaining product quality, presentation, food safety, and customer service.

You'll provide friendly service, help customers with items, rotate stock, keep displays appealing, and follow all safety procedures to deliver an unforgettable bakery experience.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience (1+ years preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming customers, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
• Assist customers with selecting bakery items and provide product knowledge, including ingredients, flavours, and preparation suggestions.
• Maintain attractive, well-stocked bakery displays that showcase the quality and variety of our products.
• Ensure products are properly handled, packaged, labeled, and presented according to Pete's standards.
• Support inventory rotation, freshness checks, and department organization.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming department.
• Work collaboratively with team members to support daily bakery operations.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Bakery Department Manager.

Physical Requirements

• This role involves frequent interaction with customers and coworkers in a busy retail environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods while working on the retail floor.
• Regular movement including walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Ability to lift and move products weighing approximately 10–40 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and exposure to common food allergens.
