Job summary

Columbus Café Erin Mills is seeking a Baker to join our team and help us deliver high-quality pastries and baked goods to customers each day. Prepare, bake, and finish croissants, pastries, and sandwiches according to recipes while maintaining safety standards.

You will monitor ovens, manage inventory, and support front-of-house during busy periods. A valid Food Handler Certification is required; ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 lbs; early morning weekend shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake croissants, pastries, muffins, sandwiches, and other baked goods according to recipes and standards.
• Mix, proof, shape, and bake.
• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times for consistency.
• Decorate and finish baked goods (glazing, icing, dusting, etc.).
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized bakery/kitchen area.
• Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies; notify management when stock is low.
• Rotate stock and ensure freshness standards are met.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
• Follow all recipes and portion standards to control food cost and waste.
• Work collaboratively and support front-of-house during busy periods.

Wage: $18.00/hour

Schedule: Early morning shifts, including weekends (typical bakery start time to have product ready for opening)

Job Duties

• Prepare and bake croissants, pastries, muffins, sandwiches, and other baked goods according to established recipes and standards
• Mix, proof, shape, and bake
• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent quality

Requirements

• Comfortable working early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
