Job summary

YORK1 is seeking an AZ-licensed driver to operate Walking Floor trucks for transporting waste and recyclables across Ontario and into the United States. The role requires safe driving, pre/post inspections, accurate record keeping, and customer-facing professionalism.

You will conduct routes from Hamilton, Ontario, with daily reporting and adherence to safety rules. This full-time position includes benefits and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience driving Walking Floor Trucks.
• AZ Ontario driver's license; clean abstract and CVOR.
• Valid passport required to cross the U.S. border.

Responsibilities

• Drive Walking Floor trucks along designated routes to collect and transport debris.
• Perform pre- and post-inspections and maintain logs.
• Complete runs to Buffalo and Michigan from Southern Ontario.
• Comply with transportation laws and safety standards.
• Interact with customers professionally during routes.
• Submit daily route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports.

Summary

YORK1 seeks responsible drivers adept at operating Walking Floor Trucks. The role entails safely transporting waste or recyclable materials, navigating varied terrains, including high traffic areas, construction sites, and transfer stations.

Responsibilities

Operational

• Conduct pre- and post-inspections of assigned vehicle/equipment, documenting checks using standard forms or online tools.
• Drive Walking Floor trucks along designated commercial and residential routes to collect and transport construction debris to disposal sites.
• Ensure loading areas adhere to safety standards.
• Complete runs to Buffalo and Michigan from Southern Ontario (Hamilton, Ontario home base).
• Administer bills of lading and maintain logbooks manually or electronically.
• Submit daily route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports.
• Comply with transportation laws and procedures.

Customer Service

• Interact courteously with customers/public along routes, addressing queries or concerns.
• Leave customer locations clean and debris-free where appropriate.

Safety

• Operate vehicles in accordance with YORK1 Health and Safety Rules, OHS, MTO/DOT requirements, and relevant laws.
• Attend scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
• Promptly report incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notify Management/Dispatch of service interruptions or potential safety hazards.

Reporting

• Track and document activity logs accurately.
• Report issues or incidents to dispatch promptly.
• Notify supervisor of issues requiring management action.
• Submit daily route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience driving Walking Floor Trucks.
• AZ Ontario driver’s license.
• Clean drivers Abstract and CVOR.
• Ability to drive standard transmission 15-18 speed.
• Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, background check, including previous employment verification.
• Valid passport is required to cross the U.S border.

Working Conditions

• Normal setting: outdoors and/or driving a GPS monitored vehicle.
