Zurich Canada is currently seeking an AVP, Risk Management to provide senior management with a comprehensive view of the risks within the business or functional area.

Reporting to Zurich Canada's Chief Risk Officer, you will help implement Zurich Group’s Risk Management Framework and ensure an efficient risk management function. You will collaborate with senior functional and business line leaders to identify and mitigate risks, promoting a risk-aware culture aligned with the organization’s strategy and decision-making processes.

This role offers a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience in a supportive environment where your voice matters. This is a hybrid role.

What You Will Do

1. Conduct risk assessments (operational, strategic, and emerging) and investigations of operational events, working with the business to develop risk mitigation strategies.
2. Highlight significant risk concerns to senior management.
3. Support all risk management activities and represent the risk function in their absence.
4. Assist with Risk Governance and Risk Reporting processes, including committees and reporting documentation.
5. Engage in operational risk management activities, such as risk assessments and framework implementation.
6. Partner with business and functional management.
7. Compile and provide risk reports to support decision-making.
8. Promote understanding and implementation of the Zurich Group Risk Management Framework across the organization.
9. Support regulatory reporting processes, including ORSA.

Job Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 7+ years of risk management experience, or
• High School Diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of risk management experience, or
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree in Risk Management and 7+ years of experience.

Additionally, candidates should have at least 7 years in the insurance or financial services industry, with experience in various technical functions, and possess knowledge in risk management or risk engineering.

Preferred:

• Technical skills in insurance areas such as underwriting, claims, reinsurance, or credit risk.
• Ability to influence senior management.
• Strong multi-tasking, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Advanced degree and/or professional certification in insurance, actuarial, or risk management.
