Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, the Assistant Vice President, Investor Relations is accountable for maintaining and developing communications and strategies that contribute to Great-West Lifeco’s visibility and reputation amongst investors and maintaining a good public image for the organization.

The incumbent will be expected to understand and communicate the company’s financial strategy, and the broader strategic direction of the business and ensure that the image of Great-West Lifeco is maintained in a cohesive fashion. The role will oversee most aspects of shareholder meetings, press conferences, private meetings with investors, the investor relations sections of our corporate websites and company annual reports. The AVP, Investor Relations must be aware of current and upcoming issues across the organization, especially those that relate to fiduciary duty and organizational impact.

The role will work closely with members of the Finance, Communications, Corporate Secretary and Legal teams.

What you will do:

  • Participate in quarterly earnings process, including the development of key earnings materials and drives conversations with key internal stakeholders
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and investment industry trends which can be used to inform investor targeting and messaging
  • Assist SVP with respect to Financial Reporting and Control activities and outputs to ensure data integrity and adequate system controls are in place
  • Develops and monitors performance metrics for the investor relations function
  • Prepare reports and presentations comparing competitors’ financial performance, operational metrics, and valuation metrics against other S&P 500 companies and industry benchmarks
  • Performs research and analysis of industry, peers and competitors' financial statements, operational metrics, valuation, relative stock price movements, investors' and analysts' perceptions and opinions, and stock ownership, as well as other ad-hoc analysis as needed
  • Participate in prospective investor outreach, including educating prospective investors on the merits of investing in alternative investments
  • Stay informed about market trends, investor preferences, and regulatory developments that could impact our investor relations strategy
  • Stay up to date with securities laws, listing requirements, and corporate governance practices

What you will bring:

  • 5 + years’ experience in a similar position, including investors’ relations or in the field of sales and investments
  • Business related undergraduate degree
  • MBA, CPA, CA, CFA designations; an asset
  • Prior investor relations experience in the financial sector is an asset
  • Strong Microsoft Suite skills (PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg, Nasdaq, S&P, CapIQ, FactSet is an asset
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Accounting reporting skills
  • Demonstrated credibility and professionalism in effectively articulating complex issues

The base salary for this position is between $123,300 - $205,500 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
