About MRU Camps

MRU Camps has been providing high-quality programming for children and youth since 1990. We focus on creating an environment where children can grow and thrive.

About the Role

MRU Camps seeks enthusiastic individuals to share their knowledge and expertise in Aviation with children and youth. Under the supervision of the STEM Education Supervisor, Instructors will deliver lessons and lead activities. Responsibilities include administrative duties and maintaining professional relations with staff, campers, and parents.

This is a casual position ending August 8, 2025. The hours of work are between 7:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Instructors must be available for all 3 weeks of employment (July 7-11, July 21-25, and August 5-8, 2025) and orientation week (June 23-27, 2025).

All MRU Camps staff are required to provide the following at their own cost prior to commencement:

• Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (valid within 1 year).
• Standard First Aid (valid within 2 years) and CPR Level C (valid within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and modify program lessons and activities.
• Ensure safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers aged 12 - 15 years.
• Make accommodations for campers with varying learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with co-Leaders and Instructors.
• Assist camp Leaders with recreational and classroom activities.
• Supervise and coordinate lunchtime and before/after care.
• Complete administrative tasks including camper registration and incident reports.
• Attend staff orientation and necessary meetings.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians.

Qualifications

• Experience in a childcare/educational setting (minimum 1 year).
• Previous experience in camp-related or recreational activities is an asset.
• Experience with curriculum design and implementation is an asset.
• Ability to work well in a team and individually.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Previous experience in Aviation is required.
• Must be available for 40 hours per week during the specified camp weeks.
• Must attend mandatory staff training June 23-27, 2025.
