Job summary

Midas Auto Services in Edmonton is seeking a full-time automotive technician to diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of vehicle systems. You will use diagnostic tools, perform road tests, and ensure repairs meet manufacturer specs.

Responsibilities include advising customers, coaching apprentices, and completing service reports. Valid driver’s license and multiple years of experience required. Flexible schedule and overtime may apply.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of over six years of work experience and industry courses in automotive technology is required to be eligible for trade certification.
  • A valid driver’s license (class 5) is required for vehicle testing and driving.
  • Experience in diagnose and repair of passenger cars, SUV’s and light trucks is required.
  • Experience with scan tools, hand tools, and automotive repair procedures is required.

  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisor.
  • Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate faults.
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, tune ups, mount and balance tires, wheel alignments.
  • Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.
  • Test and adjust repairs to specifications.
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
  • Coach and instruct apprentices.
  • Provide customer service.

Job Description:

Benefits:

Important information:

Flexibility on schedule is required. Our business operating hours are from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The worker will be required to work 9 hours per day, 4 days during weekdays (Monday to Friday); and 7 hours on weekends (Saturday). Overtime may be required based on the business’ needs.
