Job summary

Bombardier is seeking an Automation Specialist, Maintenance at Marcel-Laurin Plant 1 in Montreal, Canada. This role focuses on maintaining and advancing automated control systems within an Industry 4.0 framework, collaborating across maintenance, production and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has a DEC in Industrial Automation, strong PLC/HMI/SCADA knowledge, and a solid programming foundation, with proficiency in French and an interest in IT and automation.

Qualifications

• College diploma (D.E.C.) in Industrial Automation.
• Familiarity with industrial automation principles (PLCs, sensors, actuators, control logic).
• Solid foundation in programming and computer science; knowledge of PLCs, databases, or networking is an asset.
• Strong interest in industrial technologies, IT, and automation.
• Curious, detail-oriented, and self-driven, with a strong willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in spoken and written French; technical English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Working within the automation team to maintain and further develop the control systems of a fully automated surface treatment facility.
• Participating in control system modernization projects, including industrial PLCs, operator interfaces (HMI), SCADA systems, and industrial network architecture.
• Supporting the analysis, planning, and implementation of new automation solutions as part of an Industry 4.0 transformation initiative.
• Contributing to the documentation, testing, and validation of changes made to automated systems.
• Assisting in technical problem analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of production systems.
• Collaborating with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to ensure the reliability and performance of automated equipment.
