Job summary

Boyd Autobody & Glass is seeking an Auto Body Apprentice to repair vehicles, shadow a Licensed Technician, and learn processes that meet our quality standards. You’ll work with a team focused on continuous improvement and training opportunities.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, completion of an Auto Body program, and 1 year of experience. A valid driver’s license and owning tools are expected as part of the daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Post-Secondary Auto Body Repair Program completion is required.
• Minimum 1 year Auto Body Technician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent execution of WOW plan.
• Repairs vehicles per insurance guidelines and our quality standards.
• Inspect and disassemble the vehicle to determine damages at the beginning of the repair.
• Repair minor damage to vehicle body panels.
• Repair or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components and vehicle accessories.
• Reassemble vehicle once repairs are complete.
• Inspect completed work to ensure the repair meets quality standards.
• Shadow a Licensed Auto Body Technician to perform repairs.
• Actively pursues learning opportunities and applies knowledge to tasks.

Job Description

At Boyd Autobody & Glass, we have been providing quality workmanship on every collision repair for over 30 years. As part of The Boyd Group, we have numerous locations throughout Western and Central Canada. We provide the knowledge and equipment you need to excel on our team. We are looking for an experienced apprentice who can produce 50-100hrs bi-weekly. The Auto Body Apprentice repairs minor vehicle damage while shadowing a licensed Auto Body Technician. The Auto Body Apprentice works with all team members in achieving the repair facilities' KPIs.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Repairs vehicles as per insurance guidelines and our quality standards
• Inspect and disassemble the vehicle to determine all damages at the beginning of the repair
• Repair minor damage to vehicle’s body panels
• Repair or replace interior and exterior parts, electrical components and vehicle accessories
• Reassemble vehicle once repairs are complete
• Inspect completed work to ensure the repair is up to quality standards
• Shadow a Licensed Auto Body Technician to perform repairs
• Actively pursues learning opportunities and applies newly gained knowledge to tasks, contributing to high-quality work and continuous improvement.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Required for the Job

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of Post-Secondary Education in an Auto Body Repair Program
• Minimum 1 years of Auto Body Technician experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Welding experience (MIG, TIG welding)

Other Requirements

• Travel, physical requirements, etc. Frequently required to bend, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift approximately 50 lbs.
• You have your own toolbox
• Valid driver’s license required

Compensation Details

Hourly: $25 - $27 per hour Future flat rate opportunities will be available Compensation is commensurate with skill, education and experience.
