Job summary

Manitoba Chiefs in Winnipeg invites applications for an Auntie position within the Reunification Homes. Under the Director of Children and Families, you will work directly with First Nations families to provide culturally appropriate support 24/7, aiming to promote healthy families who can care for their children, families, and Nations.

You will assist with living skills, therapeutic activities, and personal care; empower families as positive role models; build social supports; provide respite

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the child welfare system, justice and health services.
• Ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
• Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Criminal record and child abuse registry checks required.
• Valid Class 5F Driver’s License and vehicle; ability to travel upon request.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance with living skills, therapeutic activities and personal care.
• Empower families to be positive role models for their families.
• Provide support to families to help build their personal and social support systems.
• Provide respite to families caregivers the opportunity to attend programming, rest, and recharge.
• Ability to build and maintain long lasting, respectful relationships with community.
• Support the planning of families.
• Ensure clear communication with families and staff within the office.
• Other duties as assigned.
