Job description

TCU Place - Saskatoon's Arts & Convention Centre is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Audio Technician to join our technical services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic live event environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional audio experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setup, Operate & Maintain Audio Equipment: Manage microphones, mixers, soundboards, and other professional-grade audio processing gear for live performances, conferences, and events.
  • Live Sound Mixing: Operate front-of-house and monitor mixes to ensure clear, balanced, and high-quality sound during all types of live events.
  • Collaborate with Crew Members: Work closely with the Stage Carpenter and Technical Services Manager to understand the various needs of show promoters, performers, and fellow technicians to meet the specific audio requirements of each event.
  • Troubleshoot Audio Issues: Quickly identify and resolve technical problems related to audio equipment and system performance in real time.
  • Apply Technical Expertise: Stay current with the latest advancements in audio technology and techniques to continually improve audio service delivery.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in live sound or event-based audio technician roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of audio systems and signal flow.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Physical capability to lift and move audio, stage, and technical equipment as part of event setup and tear-down.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities under pressure.

This position requires scheduling flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the TCU Place event schedule and the terms of the IATSE Collective Agreement, to ensure consistent and reliable technical support for all performances and events.
