Job summary

The Corporation of the Town of Whitby is seeking a Part-Time Attendant I - Maintenance to support our community facilities. You will perform routine cleaning, set up spaces for bookings and rentals, and ensure safe, welcoming environments for patrons and events.

You bring OSSA/First Aid qualifications, strong customer service, and a willingness to work flex hours including weekends. This role reports to the Supervisor of Facilities in Whitby.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.) plus related facility experience.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, in good standing.
  • Working knowledge of facility operations and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment safely and properly.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and operate in a physical role.
  • Valid Class G driver's license in good standing.
  • Valid police criminal record check (Vulnerable Sector) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine facility cleaning in all public washrooms, changerooms and common areas.
  • Set up, take down and clean spaces per booking schedules and rentals.
  • Provide customer service to the public and rental groups.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of exterior areas including garbage, snow and salting.
  • Respond to inquiries, assist staff and mitigate risks for users.
  • Provide direction and training to part‑time staff and assist in other duties.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Facilities the Part-Time Attendant I - Maintenance role is responsible for: performing routine facility cleaning in all public washrooms, changerooms and common areas and ensuring facilities as safe and user friendly for patrons; set up and/or take down and clean-up of facility spaces according to booking schedules; and for rental/permit groups; providing customer service and responding to the needs of the public and rental organizations; maintain cleanliness, and safety of exterior areas of the facilities including emptying garbage receptacles, snow removal and salting; responding to public and staff inquiries, providing assistance; mitigating risks and ensuring the safety of all users and staff within the facility; providing direction, training, and advice to part-time staff, and; assisting in other duties as required.

What You Bring To Our Team
  • completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.) at least twelve (12) months of related experience in recreation facilities
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, in good standing
  • working knowledge of facility operations, and associated equipment and maintenance procedures
  • demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills and ability to deal courteously and effectively with user groups, general public, and program participants
  • the ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely
  • the ability to lift heavy objects
  • a valid Class “G” Driver’s License, maintained in good standing
  • a valid, satisfactory police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector (Vulnerable Sector Check)
What We Offer You

Salary: Salary Under Review* * The Town is currently undertaking an extensive job evaluation review for PT CUPE positions. The salaries and job responsibilities for all part‑time unionized postings are being considered under review until the results and ratings for these positions are finalized and shared. Please be aware that salaries and job responsibilities may be impacted by this review. Salary Range/Hourly rate: $21.88 - $24.35 Hybrid information: Frontline Hours: Flex hours, including days, evenings and weekends (maximum of 24 hours per week). Closing Date: October 14, 2026
