Job summary

The Technology Development Program at WSIB offers hands-on experience across Cyber Security and Software Development streams, with rotations through cross-functional teams and mentorship, designed to accelerate technical and business acumen in Ontario’s public sector tech environment. Two streams are available: Cyber Security and Software Development, plus an exposure to Cloud DevOps/FinOps.

Roles are on-site in Toronto with a rigorous, learning-focused culture and opportunities to impact

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline.
  • Approximately eight (8) months of combined experience through co-op terms, internships, research, academic projects, or paid employment in Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, AI, or Systems Design.

Associate, Technology Development Program – 3 temporary positions

Job Grade: T05 - Annual base salary $72,200.00

1x 9-month positions available & 2x 24-Month position available | Toronto, ON (On-site)

About The Program

The Technology Development Program is an immersive program within WSIB’s Corporate Services and Technology divisions. Through a combination of hands‑on project work, mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities, you’ll build both technical expertise and business acumen while contributing to strategic technology initiatives.

For this recruitment cycle, we are hiring for 2 distinct streams:
  • Cyber Security
  • Software Development, additionally, we are seeking one participant with a strong interest and aptitude in Cloud DevOps and/or FinOps.
Cyber Security Stream
You’ll Help Protect Critical Systems And Information By
  • Supporting the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies and practices
  • Participating in security assessments and vulnerability testing activities
  • Assisting with the investigation and resolution of security incidents
  • Helping promote cybersecurity awareness through presentations and educational initiatives
Software Development Stream

You’ll contribute to the design and delivery of technology solutions by:

  • Designing, developing, testing, and supporting software applications
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to build high‑quality digital solutions
  • Participating in code reviews and continuous improvement activities
  • Contributing to modern development practices and technology innovation
Cross‑Program Learning & Innovation
  • Research emerging technologies and industry trends
  • Explore opportunities to improve customer experiences and business processes through technology
  • Support technology implementation initiatives and proof‑of‑concept activities
  • Develop recommendations and insights on future technology opportunities
  • Create presentations, reports, and technology whitepapers
  • Present ideas and findings to leaders and stakeholders
  • Gain exposure to strategic decision‑making and enterprise technology planning
What We’re Looking For

Education required: Undergraduate or Master’s degree in: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline

Experience required: Approximately eight (8) months of combined experience through co‑op terms, internships, research, academic projects, or paid employment in one or more of the following areas: Software Development, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Design
