Job summary

Career opportunity :

We are seeking an Associate Portfolio Manager / Portfolio Analyst to join our Toronto location on a hybrid working model. This role offers a unique opportunity to join a team investing across a broad global mix of private market products including private equity, real estate, private credit, and infrastructure. The Harbourfront Portfolio Management team employs a holistic approach, combining quantitative and fundamental techniques to generate alpha.

You will be responsible for :
  1. Supporting our PMs with in-depth research and due diligence on third-party private market strategies for potential inclusion in Harbourfront’s investment platform. Conduct detailed quantitative analysis on third-party holdings and performance measures to identify key risk factors.
  2. Assisting with portfolio reconciliation and rebalancing to ensure accuracy and alignment with investment objectives.
  3. Supporting portfolio management functions and trading related to affiliated IFM fund offerings.
  4. Liaising with fund accountants, service providers, and third-party fund companies to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  5. Utilizing research software and tools (e.g., Morningstar) to gather data and perform analyses on existing and prospective investments.
  6. Providing support to the Portfolio Manager for ongoing market monitoring, investment memos, and ad-hoc research projects.
  7. Developing and maintaining processes to enhance operational efficiency of pool fund vehicles.
  8. Collaborating with the Office of the CIO on special projects.
The ideal candidate for this position has :
  1. Completion of CFA Level I (Level II / III candidates are also encouraged to apply).
  2. Registration or ability to register as a Portfolio Manager with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).
  3. An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related fields.
  4. At least 5 years of industry experience.
  5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with other MS Office applications is an asset.
  6. Experience with research platforms such as Morningstar or similar.
  7. Knowledge of trading and reporting software (e.g., Croesus, Netre) is a plus.
  8. Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
