Full Job Description
Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding global lawfirm specializing in key sectors such as insurance, transport, energy,infrastructure, and trade & commodities. With integrated teams ofdisputes, regulatory, and transactional lawyers, they offer acomprehensive range of legal services and advice to businesses at theforefront of global trade and commerce.
As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking ahighly skilled and qualified mid-level Insurance Litigation Associateto join their team of experts in their Calgary office.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide legal analysis and advice in the areas ofinsurance defense and coverage.
- Conductresearch and provide insightful analysis.
- Draft pleadings, motion materials, factums, pre-trialmemorandums, and mediation briefs.
- Preparecorrespondence for opposing counsel and clients.
- Prepare for and attend discoveries and mediations.
- Appear in court to argue motions and otheradjudicative hearings.
- Attend Alberta orCanadian Bar Association events for professional and businessdevelopment.
- Address other relatedbusiness needs as they arise.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Graduate from a recognized University / Common LawSchool with a license to practice law in the Province of Alberta oranother Canadian Province as a member in good standing with the LawSociety of Alberta or another Provincial Law Society.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in privatepractice or in-house legal practice, with a focus on commerciallitigation and insurance law.
- Exceptionallegal writing and communication skills.
- Strong judgment and legal reasoning, excellentanalytical capabilities, and creativity in problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans,present clear proposals to clients, and communicate instructionseffectively.
- High integrity and intellectual rigor.
- Strong interpersonal skills and anentrepreneurial spirit with a keen interest in building clientrelationships.
- Ability to work bothindependently and as part of a team.
