Job summary

Priceline is seeking a Java backend engineer to join our agile team building travel applications. You'll work on core Java, REST APIs, and low-latency services in a hybrid in-office/remote setup.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the product roadmap, implement SQL/Ksql queries, and leverage technologies like Spark, Kafka, and Kubernetes to process data at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Core Java.
• Comfort with Spring Frameworks, Web Services and APIs.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools to help write and debug code.
• Strong SQL skills and real-time data query experience.
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Kafka, KSql, Flink, Beam).
• Experience with NoSQL stores (Cassandra, Bigtable, MongoDB).
• Experience in Microservices, Kubernetes and Docker is a plus.

Who you are:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.

2+ years of experience in Core Java.

Comfort and experience with Spring Frameworks, Web Services and APIs.

Familiarity with using AI-assisted coding tools (like Claude or Cursor) to help write, debug, and learn code faster.

Thorough SQL compositions skills for composing queries and analysis.

Deep understanding of modern real-time as well as batch processing big data solutions (Spark/ Kafka/KSql/ Flink/ Apache Beam)

Experience developing applications that work with NoSQL stores (e.g.Cassandra, Bigtable, MongoDB)

Experience in Microservices, Kubernetes, Dockers is a big positive.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may be eligible for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000 CAD.
