Job summary

Priceline is seeking an experienced software engineer to build high-performance backend services using Core Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka. You will work in a hybrid model with a strong emphasis on real-time data and cloud-native architectures.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in software development, strong SQL, and experience with observability platforms like Splunk or New Relic. Collaboration in a cross-functional Agile team is a must.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expertise in Core Java and Spring Boot for building high-performance applications.
• Thorough SQL composition skills for querying and analysis.
• Experience with observability platforms (e.g., Splunk, New Relic) and Kafka.
• Proficiency with Git and Gitflow, CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Microservices, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Cloud experience with GCP and AWS.

• Familiarity with event-streaming platforms like Kafka.
• Openness to utilizing modern GenAI tools (e.g., Gemini, Cursor) to enhance productivity.
• Proficiency in version control best practices using Git and Gitflow.
• Experience in Microservices, Kubernetes, and Docker is a big positive.
• Experience with developing on Cloud, especially GCP and AWS.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may be eligible for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.

The salary range for this position is $100,000-120,000 CAD.
