Job summary

BC General Employees' Union (BCGEU) seeks an Associate Director – IT Services to co-lead the IT department, oversee infrastructure, operations, and security, and act as chief escalation point for major incidents. You will guide projects end-to-end and shape the IT roadmap while mentoring a technical team across staff and members.

The successful candidate combines broad technical knowledge with strong leadership and a service-first approach to ensure IT is a dependable partner to staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
• Proven leadership of IT teams and experience in governance, risk, and security.
• Experience delivering IT infrastructure projects and managing vendor/partner relationships.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead the IT department and ensure SLA/ performance targets are met.
• Mentor staff, provide evaluations and growth opportunities.
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations, security, and incident response.
• Coordinate IT projects from planning through rollout and monitoring.
• Present reports on progress, risks, and milestones to leadership.
• Drive IT strategy and roadmaps in collaboration with the Director of IT.
