The Work

This role is pivotal within the Financial Planning and Reporting team at one of Canada's fastest-growing financial institutions. The AD/Sr. Manager, Financial Planning & Reporting, will utilize financial modeling and analytical skills to develop and enhance models and reports that inform key management decisions.

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organization and multitasking skills, work independently with initiative, and pay close attention to detail. Although the role supervises two direct reports, a hands-on approach is essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to collaborate with department heads and leadership. The ability to gather and document requirements effectively is crucial.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the Personal Lending, Payments, and Digital Bank portfolios, primarily supporting the Head of Personal Business.
Maintenance of Financial Models (25%)
  • Collaborate with senior management to gather assumptions for financial models.
  • Develop and maintain models for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy of data extraction and model outputs, employing advanced Excel skills.
  • Review work of junior analysts and associates.
Financial Analysis and Ad hoc Reporting (35%)
  • Collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data and KPIs.
  • Present insights and recommendations to management regularly.
  • Prepare specific reports for portfolios, KPIs, and ad hoc requests.
Enhance Financial Analysis and Processes (25%)
  • Work with senior leadership to improve models, analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Leadership (15%)
  • Foster a positive team environment, resolve conflicts, and coach team members.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ensure accountability and open communication within the team.
Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business; MBA/CPA/CFA preferred.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of mortgage and personal banking products.
  • Advanced Excel skills, experience with SQL is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
