About The Opportunity
The Countering Antisemitism & Hate team is committed to ensuring every Jew can play a meaningful role in keeping Canada a secure home for Jews – and a country in which Jews remain leading voices in society. The team does this by building and driving a communitywide strategy for fighting antisemitism. Reporting to the Director, Countering Antisemitism & Hate, we’re seeking an Associate Director, Countering Antisemitism & Hate to champion and move this vision forward.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the team with triaging the day-to-day needs and responsibilities of the department.
- Provide lay committees and subcommittees with staff support to review tactical recommendations and proposals, ensuring projects are being considered, reviewed and moving forward.
- Collaborate with senior professionals across the organization on program delivery, reporting, and progress against budget targets.
- Work with the Director to analyze programs/allocations and review proposals relevant to countering antisemitism along with strategic advice and recommendations.
- Act as the primary liaison with the Mobilization team to ensure progress and alignment on key deliverables and initiatives.
- Assist in fostering and maintaining internal corporate knowledge of UJA’s plan to counter antisemitism through presentations and communications.
- Aid in proactive issues monitoring, stakeholder management, and collaboration through liaising with UJA professionals, lay leaders, and other community organizations.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, Human Rights, Public Policy), or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in advocacy, community engagement, or human rights-focused roles
- Proven ability to manage teams and lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Strong understanding of antisemitism and hate, including social and political dimensions
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly build rapport with colleagues
- Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills
- A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
- Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results
- An ability to think strategically and critically
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail
- Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
- Familiarity with non-profits, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset
- This is a full-time permanent position. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis. Please note that UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
