Job summary

Thompson Rivers University seeks an Associate Director, AI & Automation to lead the institution’s AI adoption and automation programs. Reporting to the CIO, you will shape strategy, governance standards, and the portfolio roadmap while scaling institutional capability.

Responsibilities include directing the Power Team initiative, budget oversight, vendor management, and building a capable team to advance responsible AI use across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in information technology, computer science, business or related field.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience in complex or post-secondary environments.
• Experience in software development, scripting or automation engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI and automation strategy and governance for the university.
• Oversee multi-year roadmaps and program delivery for AI/RPA initiatives.
• Manage budget, vendor contracts and portfolio governance.
• Build and mentor the AI & Automation team and define scalable structure.
