Job Summary

As an Assistant Veterinary Technician for our team in Sherbrooke, you will be responsible for the well-being of our laboratory animals. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as the integrity of our pre-clinical studies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely hold and restrain animals during veterinary examination and interventions
• Perform simple medical treatments (topical, food supplementation) under veterinary supervision
• Maintain the veterinary laboratory, surgical suites, and support spaces
• Keep inventory and ensure adequate supplies of materials and instruments used in surgeries, veterinary laboratories, and emergency kits
• Maintain surgical instruments and equipment, including cleaning, care, and sterilization

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma; experience in a similar role is an asset; AEP in Animal Care is an asset
• Ability to lift up to 20 kg, walk, stand, and stoop
• Good observation, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to last-minute changes
• Understanding of written English is mandatory; bilingualism in French and English is preferable

Pay: Starting at $17.00/hour, with opportunities for higher starting levels based on research experience. Premiums for overtime, weekends, and evenings.

Schedule: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours/week), with potential for overtime, weekend rotation, and bonuses.
