Job summary

Wascana in Saskatchewan is seeking Child Protection Assistant Supervisors in the Service Delivery division to supervise, manage, and implement protective, preventative, and support services for children, parents, and foster families using the Family Centered Case Management Model and PRIDE Model of Practice.

The role includes coaching, supervising and training staff, and providing leadership in the absence of the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of The Child and Family Services Act and Family and Children’s Services manuals.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • Ability to apply the Family Centered Case Management and PRIDE models.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity:


The Ministry of Social Services, Centre Service Area, requires Child Protection Assistant Supervisors in the Service Delivery division of Child and Family Programs.


Under the Authority of The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act, you will supervise, manage, and implement programs designed to provide protective, preventative, and support services to children, parents and foster families utilizing the Family Centered Case Management Model and P.R.I.D.E. Model of Practice.


The Assistant Supervisor has responsibility for coaching, supervising and training staff and assumes a leadership role in providing guidance and support in the delivery of services in the absence of the Supervisor. The candidate must be knowledgeable about Ministry policies and procedures as outlined in The Child and Family Services Act and Family and Children’s Services manuals to deliver mandated services and provide information to staff, community agencies and the general public. The candidate must have a working knowledge of the Structured Decision-Making tools,applications, and methodology.


You will be an active member of the supervisory team demonstrating leadership, mentoring and role modelling, which is exemplified by respect and empowerment, in order to encourage employees to achieve success. You will assist with service delivery within work units and with partner agencies in the community.


The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours and travel.


This team will be working as a mobile unit, travelling to the rural regions of Saskatchewan. You will be working field hours that may change based on the needs in the community.


Travel and overnight stays will be assigned for our community offices in Nipawin, Prince Albert, Melfort, North Battleford, Lloydminster, Buffalo Narrows, Estevan, Weyburn, Fort Qu’Appelle, Swift Current, Yorkton, Rosetown and/or Meadow Lake. Travel to smaller communities may also be assigned as necessary.
