Job summary

Prairie Mountain Health seeks a Supervisor to oversee the Willard Monson House addiction treatment program in Ste. Rose du Lac. You will provide administrative and clinical supervision, ensuring client-centered care and program quality.

You'll identify staff training needs, supervise direct reports, and foster community partnerships while maintaining ethical standards and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Science).
  • Minimum five years supervised counselling experience.
  • Minimum of two years directly related supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate in the recruitment process for staff in the unit.
  • Oversee training and orientation of newly hired direct reports.
  • Provide clinical and program guidance, coaching, direction, and decision making to direct reports.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with community partners to create service integrations and streamline referrals for clients.
  • Ensure the effective management of administrative functions including complete and accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Science)
  • Minimum five years supervised counselling experience
  • Minimum of two years directly related supervisory experience
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with adults engaged in addictions recovery and treatment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to performance management theories and models
  • Accuracy and proficiency in administrative skills and experience
  • Proficiency in individual and group education and counselling theories
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and work in a team environment and provide leadership to create a respectful working environment

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, the Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing administrative and, as required, clinical supervision of the in-house program at the Parkwood Addiction Treatment facility in Brandon. The Supervisor will participate in, and contribute to, the development, implementation, operation, and evaluation of community -based and in-house treatment programs. They will use their experience and expertise to ensure that a client centered philosophy and approach is maintained, enhanced, and integrated into the development, provision and support of programs and services. The Supervisor will focus on identifying staff training and development needs and program resources to ensure a high functioning, effective and professional team within a client centered culture.

Responsibilities
Overview
  • Lead and/or participate in the recruitment process for staff in the unit.
  • Oversee training and orientation of newly hired direct reports.
  • Communicate with staff in a manner that is collaborative and team building in orientation, and firm and fair in direction and follow through.
  • Support staff in problem solving; able to balance staff needs with the needs of clients and those of the organization, prioritize as required.
  • Chair regular staff meetings.
  • Set clear expectations and direction for staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Provide clinical and program guidance, coaching, direction, and decision making to direct reports.
  • Contribute to the coordination and evaluation of program services and to the development of new programming as required.
  • Participate in the annual budget and quarterly estimate process and manages costs within allocated budgets.
  • Ensure the effective management of administrative functions including complete and accurate records.
  • Develop and foster partnerships with community partners to create service integrations and streamline referrals for clients
  • Communicate respectfully and positively with clients and staff and presents self in an approachable and friendly manner
  • Respond to staff requests and crises in a responsible, timely and flexible manner
  • Commitment to on-going professional development activities and engagement in reciprocal learning experiences with colleagues and direct supervisor
