Job summary

Dollarama in Fort St. John, Canada is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in overseeing daily retail operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, and achieving sales goals.

You will act as Manager on Duty in the Store Manager’s absence, guiding the team to deliver friendly service and efficient operations. This role emphasizes merchandising, stock responsibilities, staff training, performance feedback, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of retail experience.
• Two or more years in a supervisory or management role.
• Open availability including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail operations in the absence of Store Manager and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist with merchandising, stocking, and daily shipments.
• Provide training, coaching, and development for employees.
• Perform cash management and store opening/closing duties.
• Hire and manage performance; ensure safety and cleanliness; uphold policies.

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily retail operations, ensuring customer satisfaction, and achieving sales goals. Acts as Manager on Duty in the Store Manager’s absence.

Daily Tasks (but not limited to)

• Assisting the Store Manager with operations and staff management.
• Helping with merchandising, stocking, and unpacking daily shipments.
• Providing exceptional customer service and resolving escalated issues.
• Training, coaching, and developing employees.
• Performing cash management, store opening and closing duties as needed.
• Assigning tasks to the team and ensuring store safety and cleanliness.
• Conducting regular performance evaluations and providing feedback.
• Ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
• Maintaining visual merchandising standards.
• Responsible for hiring and performance management.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

• Minimum of two (2) years of retail experience.
• At least two (2) years in a supervisory or management role.
• Open availability (day, evening, weekend).
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
