Job summary

Bedrock Homes Limited is seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent in Calgary, AB to coordinate trades and oversee day-to-day site safety and operations on residential projects.

You will support the Site Superintendent, supervise safety adherence, and help ensure high-quality construction while maintaining efficient build volumes in the Calgary market.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in residential construction.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints is preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of framing for minor tasks such as stairs, railing, and landing.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Criminal Records Check to company’s satisfaction required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise work on all sites assigned and coordinate trades.
• Secure sites at end of shifts.
• Perform preliminary inspections before Quality Control reviews.
• Provide backup to the Superintendent and conduct site visits with customers.
• Ensure projects meet Bedrock Homes Quality standards.
• Inspect sites including sub-contracted work.
• Maintain overall safety per Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings.
• Track material stock and order supplies.
• Arrange maintenance for equipment and vehicles.
• Resolve onsite issues and emergencies.
• Support Superintendent when away from site.

About the Position:

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Assistant Site Superintendent assists with coordination of trade activities on site, including the implementation and day to day oversight of the site safety program, in addition to a variety of daily tasks required to execute residential construction projects safely and successfully.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise work performed on all sites assigned, and coordinate and assists in holding trades accountable for their time on site.
• Secure sites at the end of the shifts.
• Perform preliminary inspections on the trades work before the Quality Control inspection.
• Provide back-up duties to the Superintendent, conduct site visits with the customer, pre-occupancy walk-throughs, etc.
• Ensure overall quality of projects meet Bedrock Homes Quality standard.
• Perform site inspections on jobs including sub-contracted work.
• Control overall safety of all designated sites, ensuring Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements are enforced.
• Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings.
• Keep track of material stock and order.
• Order the appropriate equipment and arrange for regular maintenance.
• Resolve onsite issues and emergencies.
• Provide backup leadership to the Superintendent, particularly when they are away from site, appropriately operating as eyes, ears, and voice of the organization.
• Other related construction duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Three or more years of experience in the residential construction industry.
• Understanding of construction equipment use, maintenance and operation required.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints is preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of framing required to perform minor framing duties such as installing wood stairs, landing, and railing.
• Knowledge of various trades required in general house construction.
• A valid class five (5) driver’s license and personal reliable transportation is required.
• Criminal Records Check to the company’s satisfaction is required.
